Man Remains Custodian After ‘America’s Got Talent’ Stardom
The custodian whose voice captivated millions as he won Season 19 of “America’s Got Talent” wants to hold onto his day job.
Richard Goodall still works at West Vigo Middle School in Indiana while he nurtures his growing music career on the side, reports NBC. He traveled down to Nashville in June to work on music in studio. A month later, he posted on Instagram a photo of himself cleaning the school’s cafeteria.
Goodall plans to work for the school until he “can’t anymore.” He’s performing music locally in the Terre Haute area, so he has been able to balance both passions.
Interestingly, one of the passions got him into the other. Goodall went viral after a video was posted of him singing in the school’s hallways. That got the attention of America’s Got Talent, and his march to victory took off from there. He celebrated by getting married the day after he won the competition, so life has been good to the hardworking man.
Goodall’s new fame hasn’t impacted things at school too much. While the students were “freaking out” after his victory on the show, the excitement has leveled out. Perhaps because they see Goodall every day in which they’re in school, getting his job done.
