Chilling text messages sent to woman, 33, before she was found dead on yacht in major tourist destination

The final movements of a 33-year-old who mysteriously died on a yacht back in August have been revealed.

Over the summer, the affluent area on Montauk was shaken by the news that a young woman had been discovered unconscious on a yacht.

The yacht was docked at the Montauk Yacht Club, and Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra (who just went by Nolan professionally) was onboard.

Good samaritans performed CPR on her when her body was found, but sadly, she was declared dead by first responders.

Police said in a statement at the time of her passing: “Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, 33, of Manhattan, New York, was pronounced dead on the boat by First Responders.

“The preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, which will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.”

An initial post-mortem later suggested that there were no signs of violence relating to her death. Nolan’s official cause of death is still pending toxicology, histology and further tests, says the Mirror.

As the investigation into her death continues, New York Magazine have released details on Nolan’s last day, as well as her final text exchanges.

According to the magazine, on August 4, the day before Nolan’s death, she met with Christopher Durnan, who was an outside investor of her fashion brand East x East.

Durnan and Nolan agreed to meet on his boat at 7:30pm on the day in question at the Montauk Yacht Club. They took the boat out and drank champagne while watching the sunset, says the news outlet.

After a couple of hours, Nolan’s friends began to wonder where she was, and after looking on Find My, they saw her dot floating in the middle of the ocean.

One of her friends proceeded to write in the chat: “lmao. I’m sure her phone died. Or maybe she’s dead.”

Nolan replied 10 minutes later with: “Lol i’m at the yacht club now, my phone is on.”

An hour or so after, Nolan actually died in circumstances that remain unknown. As of November 7, the police are yet to arrest anyone in connection.

Speaking to New York Magazine, Nolan’s East x East business partner Dylan Grace described her as having a love for luxury items.

“She liked boats, she liked private planes. She always loved the nice hotels,” Grace said. “She kind of liked the lifestyle, and I think it motivated her to keep grinding.

“She was manifesting a beautiful and luxurious life.”

Police have released tragic details after a woman was found dead on a yacht in New York.

Police were called to a scene on a vessel docked at the Montauk Yacht Club where a 33-year-old woman was discovered deceased yesterday (August 5).

Those who found the unconscious woman reportedly administered CPR on her but sadly, she went on to be pronounced dead by First Responders.

“Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating after a Manhattan woman was found dead on a boat docked in Montauk this morning,” law enforcement said in a statement released yesterday.

“East Hampton Town Police responded to a 911 call from a man reporting a woman unconscious on a boat docked at the Montauk Yacht Club, on Star Island Road, at approximately 12 a.m. Good Samaritans attempted to perform CPR on the woman.”

The deceased woman has since been named as Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, a fashion designer and founder of the brand East x East.

“Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, 33, of Manhattan, New York, was pronounced dead on the boat by First Responders,” police said. “The preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, which will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.”

Montauk Yacht Club has responded to the news of Nolan-O’Slatarra’s passing, saying, as per Fox News: “We are saddened to learn of the incident that took place. Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff.

“We have no further comment at this time.”

The designer’s death has shaken the local community of Montauk, an affluent area of the Hamptons, where people have described Nolan-O’Slatarra as being ‘very friendly’ and ‘always smiling’.

“There’s going to be a lot of conversation out of this,” an anonymous member of the yacht club told the New York Post.

Nolan-O’Slatarra was born in Ireland relocated to the States at the age of 26.

It was just three years ago that she launched East X East, which recently had a pop up store in the Hamptons, per the designer’s TikTok page.

Sharing a video of the temporary store, Nolan-O’slatarra wrote: “POV: The Brand you started 3 years ago has a Pop Up in the Hamptons.”

The video has been watched 6,000 times at the time of writing.

Two girls have died after they were found dead on top of a New York City subway train on Saturday morning (October 4).

Police in the Big Apple responded to a 911 call at around 3am on Saturday morning at the Marcy Avenue stop in Brooklyn.

Upon arrival, they found two unconscious and unresponsive females who were pronounced dead at the scene by healthcare professionals.

Authorities have not detailed the identities or ages of the deceased, though New York City Transit President Demetrius Crichlow confirmed it was ‘young girls’ involved in the incident.

The tragedy has lead to officials issuing a warning surrounding ‘subway surfing’, a trend reportedly fuelled by social media that has cost the lives of others on the New York network system.

Eric Adams, the Mayor of New York City, wrote on Twitter back in June: “Social media must be socially responsible. Subway Surfing kills. We need everyone to be a part of ending this dangerous threat.”

Subway surfing involves riding on the outside of moving trains, whether that be holding on the side, or more typically, on top of these subway vehicles.

The obvious dangers from this trend involve electrical hazards, sudden train movements, and falling onto the tracks.

While subway surfing has seemingly been around for a while, some people criticise social media for its resurgence.

Crichlow said in a statement: “It’s heartbreaking that two young girls are gone because they somehow thought riding outside a subway train was an acceptable game.

“Parents, teachers, and friends need to be clear with loved ones: getting on top of a subway car isn’t ‘surfing’ — it’s suicide.

“I’m thinking of both the grieving families, and transit workers who discovered these children, all of whom have been horribly shaken by this tragedy.”

Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani, a New York City mayoral candidate, said: “My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of the two teenage girls who tragically lost their lives last night atop the J train.”

Previous warnings have been issued regarding subway surfing, including from NYPD Chief of Transit Joseph M. Gulotta, who penned on X in 2024: “The dangers of subway surfing are real & its consequences potentially life-altering.

“With our youngest & most impressionable NYers returning to the subways since the return to school, a reminder to those who’d consider this dangerous act – think twice.”

The New York Police Department detained 229 alleged subway surfing suspects in 2024, which was up from 135 the year before.

A major update has been detailed in the case of the deaths of four relatives of a baby found abandoned last week in Tennessee.

38-year-old Cortney Rose; her children, 20-year-old Adrianna Williams and 15-year-old Braydon Williams; as well as Adrianna’s partner, James Wilson, 21, were killed on July 29.

The family relatives were found deceased along a road in Lake County, Tiptonville, in northwest Tennessee, local authorities confirmed in a press release.

Hours earlier, police discovered the baby daughter of Adrianna and James alive in a car seat in a ‘random’ lawn near the community town of Tigrett – some 40 miles from where the bodies had been found.

“Medical Center EMS and Crockett County Ambulance Service was called to evaluate the child,” Dyer County Sheriff’s Office’s said in a Facebook post.
them knew all of them,” Danny Goodman, district attorney for Dyer and Lake counties, added to CNN.

Austin Robert Drummond, 28, was immediately identified as a suspect in the case, and multiple sightings of the suspected killer were reported in the past few days.

Police released an image of him taken on Sunday (August 3) by a home security camera, while a staggering $30,000 was offered for information leading to the suspect’s capture.

Drummond was detained in rural Tennessee on Tuesday (August 5) morning after residents spotted the suspect and alerted law enforcement.
ley said about Drummond’s arrest in a press release detailed earlier.

Upon his arrest, Drummond is facing four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of aggravated kidnapping and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has explained.

The (TBI) hasn’t disclosed what led it to name Drummond as a suspect, whether investigators know of a motive in the killings, or why the baby was abandoned an entire county away from where the bodies were found.

Court records show Drummond was previously convicted of aggravated robbery after robbing a gas station in Jackson back in 2013.

He ultimately spent 10 years behind bars for that offence before being released in September 2024, according to court records.

The family of James have spoken out in recent days after losing the ‘best son on earth’.

Matt Wilson, the victim’s father, told CNN: “I hate that someone has taken my son from all of us. He really was a good young man. He was an exceptional father. He would stop and help anyone. He was always polite and well-behaved.

“Adrianna was the perfect momma to my grandbaby. I hope that everyone that is involved is brought to justice and soon. Sincerely the father of the best son on earth.”

rer sent before shooting his ex-girlfriend while on a date

A murderer sent a chilling text to his ex-girlfriend before shooting and killing her while she was on a date.

Leslie Reeves went on a date with Chris Smith just before Thanksgiving 2021. The night ended with a frozen pizza at Smith’s house in Farmersville, Illinois.

However, everything took a terrible turn when Reeves’ ex-boyfriend Robert Tarr arrived unannounced and smashed through the front door.

Once in the home, Tarr shot his former partner in the back of the head in what was described as an ‘execution-style’ murder.

Reeves was killed, and Tarr turned the gun towards Smith.

He was later found by a neighbor, who discovered the Illinois man hanging on to life with his loyal dog by his side.

After being taken to hospital, Smith remarkably survived the terrible ordeal – though he was left with life-changing injuries.

Speaking to KSDK in February 2022, Smith said: “I went from being a single dad, small business owner living your everyday American dream. I did nothing wrong. I don’t get it. All I was trying to do was trying to go out on a date.”

A chilling text Tarr sent prior to murdering Reeves was revealed in court, a message that ultimately sent him down for murder.

The court heard how Tarr had become jealous after hearing from a pal Reeves was travelling an hour for Thanksgiving.

He was convinced his ex was meeting a man.

The text read: “I don’t feel like she would drive that far for a party or go out with a girlfriend, I think it’s for a dude.”

Josh Easton of the Illinois State Police was brought in to deal with the case, dubbing it as one of the most horrific crime scenes he had ever attended to.

The officer had worked on 1,800 crime scenes prior.

“There was blood everywhere … The cabinets, the refrigerator, the countertop, there was blood from corner to corner in the kitchen,” he said as per CBS News.

Once the case had made its way to court, a testimony shared by Tarr’s own daughter provided much needed evidence to convict the killer.

She revealed Tarr left his house at 6pm on the night before Thanksgiving, and once more at 9:15pm.

His daughter recalled waking up at 2:45am to the noise of her father doing the laundry, while bullets that matched a firearm belonging to Tarr helped convict him.

He was ultimately found guilty of first-degree murder in April 2024.

Tarr is now serving a sentence of 85 years behind bars.
