More details are coming to light about the tragic death in Duane “Dog” Chapman’s family.

Two days after the Dog the Bounty Hunter star’s stepson Gregory Zecca shot and killed his 13-year-old son Anthony during an accidental shooting at their apartment in Naples, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office shared they are conducting a “death investigation” in connection with the July 19 incident.

“The call came into our dispatch at 8:08 p.m.,” authorities wrote in a July 21 statement to E! News. “This was an isolated incident.”

While there have not been any arrests in connection to the shooting, the investigation is ongoing.

“Our detectives are conducting a thorough investigation looking into all the elements of this tragic incident,” the statement continued. “The investigation includes statements from witnesses who were at the scene, forensic testing, subpoenas, and search warrants.”

Moments after the heartbreaking news broke, the reality star and his wife Francie Frane—who shares Gregory with her late husband—expressed just how heartbroken they were over Anthony’s passing.

“We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible tragic accident,” reps for the couple wrote in a July 20 statement to TMZ, “and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”

After all, the two—who tied the knot in 2021—initially bonded over the grief of losing both their partners to cancer.

“For a living, she’s a rancher and she recently lost her husband to cancer six months before I lost Beth Chapman so we hopped on the phone, started talking to each other, crying and consoling each other and then one thing led to another and it’s just incredible that I’ve been able to meet someone like her,” Dog shared on TMZ Live in May 2020. “With Francie, I’m allowed to speak about Beth, we speak about her husband. We cry. We hold each other.”

With a supportive new partner, the 72-year-old—a dad to 13 kids—found himself slowly healing and feeling like himself again.

“I am a fixer. I have to catch bad guys. I got to be at the top of my game. I can’t feel sorry for myself or guilty,” he continued. “I got to go out there and make a difference. That’s what I do for a living so I’ve got to man up. She helps me do that.”
