The heartbreaking final text message that Dallas Cowboys star Marshawn Kneeland sent to his family prior to his death has been revealed.

Confirming the death of their ‘beloved’ Marshawn, the Kneeland family also shared a statement, explaining that they ‘are devastated by this tremendous loss and are still processing the depth of our grief’.
It continued: “As Marshawn was making his mark on the football field with the Dallas Cowboys, he held an even more special place off the field — as a devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandson, and friend. He was kind, determined, humble, and full of love.
“His light shone brightly in every life he touched, and his spirit will continue to live on through the countless hearts he inspired.
“We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from friends, fans, and the community. During this difficult time, we ask for privacy as we come together as a family to honor and remember Marshawn’s life and legacy.”
According to police dispatch audio obtained by PEOPLE, Kneeland said goodbye to his family in a text message prior to his death.
“They just received a text from him, a group text from him saying goodbye,” authorities can be heard saying on the dispatch.
“They’re concerned for his welfare.”
One dispatcher said that Kneeland’s girlfriend, Catalina, had told authorities she was trying to get in touch with his agent, Jonathan Perzley.
“She’s trying to call his agent,” a dispatcher says.
“So we’re trying to get him to call her to call him first, but she’s saying he is armed and has a history of mental illness and her quote was, ‘He will end it all.’”
Frisco Police Department have since informed the public of the tragic circumstances which they understand to be suicide.
Officers said an earlier incident had occurred prior to Kneeland’s death, involving an ‘outside agency vehicle pursuit that led to a multi-agency search in Frisco’.
Kneeland’s body was found near his vehicle in Frisco at 1.31am, three hours after he was involved in the police chase.
After he had fled his vehicle on foot, Kneeland was sadly found with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The department continued: “The cause/manner of death will be determined by the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office.”

Dallas Cowboys star Marshawn Kneeland dies aged 24 days after first career touchdown
The NFL has paid tribute to the star player
Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland has died at the age of 24.
The football star had scored the first touchdown of his career against the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night (November 3).
He made a big play by recovering a blocked punt in the end zone, helping the Cowboys close the gap in the second quarter.
His NFL team confirmed the news of Kneeland’s sudden passing in a statement shared on Thursday (November 6).
“It is with extreme sadness that the Dallas Cowboys share that Marshawn Kneeland tragically passed away this morning,” the team said.
“Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organization. Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family.”

Kneeland, a defensive lineman from Western Michigan, was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Across 18 games – including four as a starter – he recorded 26 tackles, four quarterback hits and one sack.
His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said he was ‘shattered’ to confirm news of Kneeland’s death.
“I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys,” he said.
“Marshawn poured his heart into every snap, every practice, and every moment on the field. To lose someone with his talent, spirit, and goodness is a pain I can hardly put into words.”
Perzley continued: “My heart aches for his family, his teammates, and everyone who loved him, and I hope they feel the support of the entire football community during this unimaginable time.”

In its own statement, the NFL said it was ‘deeply saddened by the tragic news’, adding: “Our thoughts and prayers are with his girlfriend Catalina, family, friends and his teammates.”
“We have been in contact with the Cowboys and have offered support and counseling resources,” the statement concluded.
Kneeland’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
It is the second tragedy in as many years to strike Kneeland’s family.
Last February, two months before the NFL draft, Kneeland unexpectedly lost his mom Wendy to an undisclosed illness.
He told WZZM 13 of the ‘tough’ time: “I just managed it. She helped me a lot in my younger years getting into football. I always had the dream. I always told her, ‘I’m going to the NFL’ and I made it.” He continued: “She’s still with me. I got this urn of her ashes I carry with me everywhere. I still feel like she’s there watching over me.”
The Dallas Cowboys are currently on their bye week, where players and coaches have time to rest up.
They resume playing on November 17 when they take on the Las Vegas Raiders.

Ozzy Osbourne’s sister has revealed the heartbreaking text message he sent prior to his death at the age of 76.
On Tuesday (July 22), Ozzy’s family announced that he had sadly died, ‘surrounded by love’ at the age of 76.
Following Ozzy’s death, the family shared a statement.
It read: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
“We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Ozzy leaves behind his wife, Sharon, and their children, Aimee, Kelly and Jack. He is also survived by Jessica and Louis, from his first marriage to Thelma Riley, as well as his grandchildren.
Now, Ozzy’s sister, Jean Powell, has spoken about her brother and the last time they spoke.
Jean told the Daily Mirror: “We saw him in Birmingham the other week when he and the rest of the band were given the freedom of the city.
“It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes.
“To us he was our brother, not a celebrity, so it’s crazy to see the outpouring of love since his death was announced.
“We just can’t believe he is gone and we won’t be getting another phone call or text from him. Every week without fail he would get in touch, either by phone or text, to ask how we were all doing and what was going on.”

Jean explained they had last saw Ozzy – real name John Michael Osbourne – at the concert, Back to the Beginning.
“He was frail but it still came as a shock,” said Jean. “He still had plans and things he wanted to do. We don’t know the details of his death, it’s still too early. It’s just so sad. I’m just thankful he died in England.
“We had an executive box in the stadium, and when I saw the sea of people waiting to see our John I just broke down.
“We didn’t really get a chance to chat much because it was such a chaotic visit. But in his last text to me he said he would be coming to Birmingham again. He said ‘I can’t wait to come back’. We were hoping to see him this week.”

The revelation comes after Osbourne’s family members, including Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis, came together to announce the death of the Black Sabbath star on July 22.
Osbourne’s death came just weeks on from his farewell show, when he reunited with Black Sabbath for a gig at the UK’s Villa Park.
While performing to a crowd of 42,000 fans, the singer said: “You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
In January 2020, Osbourne revealed he’d been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a progressive neurological condition that primarily affects movement.
