kiIIed14 Military helicopter crashes in Mexico

Following a significant earthquake that struck Mexico on Friday, terrified survivors located near the epicenter congregated in a field, choosing to spend the night either under the stars or in their vehicles rather than in their damaged homes, which were susceptible to aftershocks.
Subsequently, an unforeseen crisis emerged. This time, it descended from the sky.
A military helicopter transporting high-ranking officials who were evaluating the earthquake damage was about to land in the vicinity when the pilot lost control. Mere seconds later, the helicopter plummeted to the ground — landing directly on several vehicles filled with earthquake survivors.
According to the state prosecutor’s office in Oaxaca, where the incident occurred, fourteen individuals on the ground lost their lives, and at least 21 others sustained injuries. Among the deceased were at least three children.
Interior Secretary Alfonso Navarrete, Oaxaca Governor Alejandro Murat, and all other individuals aboard the helicopter escaped with only minor injuries, as reported by officials.
Navarrete informed a local journalist that the pilot of the Blackhawk helicopter lost control approximately 100 feet above the ground while preparing to land in the town of Jamiltepec, situated about 20 miles from the earthquake’s epicenter.
“It is regrettable that this incident occurred,” Navarrete stated to Televisa news on Friday night, adding that it was fortunate that “there was no greater loss of human lives.”
On Saturday, Secretary of National Defense Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda arrived in Jamiltepec and expressed his apologies to the residents, stating that his agency “takes full responsibility for what transpired here.”
“This tragedy arose from our desire to assist the community here,” he remarked, further stating that his agency would aid in the reconstruction of homes and provide additional support in the region.
At least 13 people on the ground, including three children, were killed when a Mexican military helicopter carrying top officials surveying damages from an earthquake crashed in a small town in the southern state of Oaxaca.
