Miley Cyrus Draws Attention Over Her New Name
Miley Cyrus may be going back to her roots — at least when it comes to her name.
The Grammy-winning singer appears to be embracing a much simpler identity ahead of the release of her upcoming 10th studio album, “Bass Persuades.” Promotional material for the project refers to the longtime pop star simply as “Miley,” leaving her well-known surname off the announcement.

The apparent change also extends to her social media presence. Cyrus’ official Instagram account no longer prominently includes “Cyrus” in the name, while a recent post featuring the singer under a deep red filter carried the minimalist caption “Miley.”
Whether the move represents a permanent rebrand or simply an artistic choice remains unclear. Still, the timing has fans taking notice as the singer prepares to enter another major chapter in her career.
Cyrus was born Destiny Hope Cyrus in November 1992 to country performer Billy Ray Cyrus and entertainment manager Tish Cyrus. Her childhood nickname, “Smiley,” eventually evolved into Miley, the name that followed her into the spotlight.

Her breakthrough came as a teenager when she landed the starring role on the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana.” The character, Miley Stewart, became one of the defining roles of Cyrus’ early career and helped turn the young performer into an international star.
In 2008, she legally adopted the name Miley Ray Cyrus.
Now, the singer is preparing to follow her ninth album, “Something Beautiful,” with an entirely new musical era. Her upcoming project is scheduled to arrive Sept. 18, roughly a year after the previous album.
Cyrus has described “Bass Persuades” as a deeply personal project centered on the emotional power of music and the many experiences that shape a person’s life.

The new album also comes with a major live comeback. Cyrus has announced two performances at Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Bowl, scheduled for Oct. 16 and Oct. 18.
The concerts will mark her return to the stage as anticipation builds around the new material.
Ticket access will roll out in stages. An American Express presale is scheduled to begin Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. ET, followed by additional presale opportunities during the week. An artist presale is set for Sept. 9 at the same time.
