The “Black Swan” star says this pregnancy has given her a new appreciation for motherhood. Her latest social media post offers a glimpse of that perspective.

Just a few months after reflecting on this chapter of her life, Natalie Portman shared a personal update that quickly became a topic of conversation, drawing a wide range of reactions from followers.

Instead of sharing a glamorous red carpet moment, the actor posted a quiet image focused on the anticipation of welcoming her baby. Her message was short and heartfelt.

“Counting the days until we meet you 🩷,” Portman wrote on Instagram, adding, “Thank you @shelbyduncan for your talent 📷.”

The portrait captures Portman standing sideways in front of open French windows as natural light fills the room. She gently cradles her baby bump with one hand while resting the other across her chest, looking down with a soft smile.

She wears an oversized light-blue button-up shirt left open to reveal her pregnant belly. Loose waves frame her shoulder-length hair, while a delicate gold necklace and minimal makeup keep the focus on the intimate moment.

A Small Detail in the Post Sparked Questions
Some Instagram users focused less on the portrait itself and more on what they believed might be hidden in Portman’s caption. One netizen wrote, “Is she hinting at the gender bc this screams bb girl [sic].” Another commented, “but it’s in pink? she’s hinting at girl?”

Other reactions centered on Portman’s appearance. A different person wrote, “She looks great❤️ so many seem to be having babies later in life, I know I couldn’t it 😅.” Someone else added, “You look amazing 🔥.”

Not Every Response Was Supportive
On Facebook, some users expressed concerns or criticized the post. A viewer wrote, “I hope all goes well. 45 is old to have a baby🙄.”

Another observed, “Why do celebrities think we want to see their pregnancies. SOME PPL HAVE FERTILITY PROBLEMS AND CANT GET PREGNANT AND SEEING YOU PREGNANCY BUMP IS SO INSENSITIVE [sic].”

A different commenter simply wrote, “Gross. No one cares or needs to see this.”

Portman Recently Explained Why This Pregnancy Feels Different
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar published in April 2026, Portman revealed that she and her partner, French music producer Tanguy Destable, were preparing to welcome their third child together.

“Tanguy and I are very excited,” Portman said. “I’m just very grateful. I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle.”

The actor said growing up with a fertility doctor as a parent gave her an early understanding of the emotional and physical challenges many people face when trying to conceive.

“I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant,” she said. “I have so many people I love who’ve had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It’s such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it’s also not an easy thing.”

She said becoming a mother again has also changed the way she experiences pregnancy compared with earlier in her life. “There is a gratitude that when you’re young, you don’t necessarily grasp,” Portman told the magazine.

She explained that experience has given her a greater sense of calm and confidence, helping her focus on the people and environments that bring her peace. Because she believes this will likely be her last pregnancy, she said she is making an effort to appreciate every stage of the experience.

Portman also said becoming a parent twice has changed the way she approaches the constant stream of parenting advice available online. Rather than relying on social media or trying to research every answer, she said she now trusts the lessons she has learned through experience.

“I’m not really looking at social media that much,” she said. “I feel like if you’re just present and loving, that’s the best thing possible.”

Physically, Portman said she has been feeling well throughout the pregnancy and has had more energy than she expected.

She has stayed active by swimming and practicing Gyrotonics while spending time with her children. She has also enjoyed walks through parks and visits to museums in Paris as she prepares for her baby’s arrival.

She added that she has not experienced any unusual pregnancy cravings and has mostly been enjoying fruit, especially pineapple and melon.

How Portman Spent the Months Leading Up to Her Latest Pregnancy Post
Portman’s recent Instagram posts also reflected the slower pace she described in the interview. In May, the actor celebrated Mother’s Day by sharing photos with her mother as they visited the Grand Palais exhibition of Swedish artist Hilma af Klint in Paris.

Calling her mother “the greatest luck of my life,” Portman described her as “thoughtful, caring, interesting, talented, generous, funny and fun” and encouraged followers visiting the French capital to see the exhibition.

In June, Portman marked her birthday with a collection of photos from Italy. The carousel featured meals, scenic views, and snapshots from her travels, including one image of herself smiling with a friend that revealed her growing baby bump.

She thanked fans for their birthday wishes and wrote, “The best birthday week ever—thanks for all the birthday wishes and to Italy for being the greatest,” before adding that those who looked closely at the final image could spot Venus and Jupiter “almost touching.”

In July, Portman continued documenting those quieter moments with another carousel from Cassis and Arles in southern France. The collection featured time spent with friends, including a sunny boat outing and a visit to Shelby Duncan’s House of Love exhibition.

“Cassis and Arles with my favorite people, and a beautiful night celebrating Shelby’s incredible House of Love exhibition 🥀,” she wrote in the caption.

Portman’s Relationship With Destable Gradually Entered the Public Eye
While Portman has kept much of their relationship private, she and Destable first drew public attention in June 2025, when they were photographed holding hands during a walk through Paris.

Both kept their looks casual but stylish. Portman, 44, wore a denim mini-skirt paired with a crisp white T-shirt and a sleek black blazer. Destable opted for brown pants and a black T-shirt, layered with a denim jacket. He was also seen rolling a Christian Dior suitcase as they walked together.

As photos of the outing surfaced online, social media users quickly reacted. Comments ranged from amused observations to pointed critiques. “He looks like her ex husband 😂,” one person noted. Someone else asked, “Does nobody else think he looks like Forney from ‘where the heart is’?”

Another wrote, “Wow.. she can do a lot better than this!😮.” A third quipped, “Another French guy?! Hasn’t she learned her lesson?” More comments flooded the internet. One harsh critic wrote, “Bruh they look miserable,” while someone else echoed, “Poor guy. Already looks miserable.”

Amid the mixed reactions, supporters came to Portman’s defense. “Girl! He’s cute!!!!😍❤️🔥,” a fan commented, offering a counterbalance to the criticism. Another added, “Beautiful couple.” Someone else wrote, “Lovely couple ❤️.”

Portman’s public sighting with Destable comes just months after closing a significant chapter in her personal life. Their romance surfaced nearly a year after Portman filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years, director and choreographer Benjamin Millepied.
