Rose Tattoo frontman Angry Anderson in hospital, forcing band to end final European tour
Gary “Angry” Anderson is in hospital with a medical issue that has brought a premature close to Rose Tattoo’s European tour.
The band said it was “devastated” not to be able to continue, but that its legendary frontman was undergoing treatment.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the love, messages and support you have already sent Angry and the band,” it said on Monday.
“We kindly ask everyone to respect Angry’s and his family’s privacy at this time.”
The band did not say what issue had forced Anderson, 79, into hospital.
“Thank you Gary, for giving it your all. So obvious you love doing what you do,” one fan said.
“We’ll wait and see how you pull up and hopefully see you back in Australia soon.
“Get well mate — we need ya.”

The band had nine shows remaining on the One Last Ride tour, which was due to wrap in Busdorf, Germany on August 21.
Fans were told that tickets for the cancelled headline shows can be returned via the point of purchase.
“Thank you for your understanding, your love and your incredible support,” the band said.
The post announcing the end of their European tour had followed news Rose Tattoo had cancelled its performance at the Alcatraz Open Air metal festival on Sunday because of Anderson’s health. Late last month the band appeared at Germany’s beloved Wacken Open Air festival for the last time.
In May, Anderson flagged the band could continue releasing music after it finished its farewell tour in late 2026.
The rock and roll outfit formed in Sydney in 1976.
