Michael J. Fox’s Daughter Esmé Shares a Rare, Emotional Tribute

As the world continues to watch Michael J. Fox’s courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease, someone very close to his heart has stepped forward with a message of strength, admiration, and deep love — his daughter, Esmé Annabelle Fox.

Balancing Studies and Love — A Daughter Who Never Lets Go

Esmé is currently studying journalism and global cultural studies at Duke University, but even with her busy academic life, her heart remains closely tied to her father’s mission.

Speaking through her father’s foundation and at private events, she shared:

“He never gives up. He finds a reason to smile in every day. My dad is the strongest person I know.”

Fighting Together — The Heart of the Fox Family

Esmé has become an active part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation, attending events, walking for awareness, and raising support for Parkinson’s research.

While she doesn’t frequently speak to the press, her presence sends a powerful message:

She stands by her father not as a celebrity’s daughter — but as a young woman guided by love, respect, and purpose.

“He Taught Me How to Love Life — Even When It’s Hard”

In a heartfelt birthday post shared by Michael, he called her “our renaissance girl.”
But it was Esmé’s message to her father that brought tears to many:

“Dad, you taught me that a man can be strong and gentle, tired but determined. Your smile is my compass.”

In a world full of noise, their bond is a quiet song of love, strength, and resilience.

Because sometimes, the greatest heroes aren’t the ones on the movie screen — they’re the ones who wake up every day and fight, with hope in their hearts and family by their side

Michael J. Fox Returns for Rare ‘Back to the Future’ 40th Anniversary Event

Michael J. Fox Returns for Rare ‘Back to the Future’ 40th Anniversary Event originally appeared on Parade.

Michael J. Fox is making a special appearance for Back to the Future fans in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary. To celebrate the legacy of the beloved 1985 classic, Fox will join fans for a one-night-only screening of Back to the Future, followed by a live, post-screening conversation.

The event takes place on Sunday, August 10 at the Southampton Playhouse in Southampton, New York. According to the event site, the legendary actor will reflect on his life, career and the ongoing work of the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Fox, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease at age 29 while filming Doc Hollywood, has since become one of the most prominent voices in Parkinson’s advocacy. He publicly shared his diagnosis in 1998, seven years after his initial symptoms began — most notably a tremor in his pinky finger.

In an interview with People in April 2024, Fox admitted, “I didn’t want to put it out there, but, given the nature of Parkinson’s, it was going to become evident sooner or later. It was an amazing time because the response was great. The response was loving and supportive, and I really couldn’t have been … It was a payoff for all the stuff I’d done through the years.”

Since then, his foundation has reportedly raised over $2 billion toward Parkinson’s research, helping find a cure and improving treatments. Fox is expected to touch on both personal and professional milestones during his conversation with the audience.

Alongside the chance to hear from Fox, fans will also get to experience Back to the Future in IMAX. The iconic film follows teenager Marty McFly (Fox), who is accidentally sent back to 1955 and must ensure his parents fall in love, or risk erasing his own existence. With the help of inventor Doc Brown, Marty races against time to fix the past and get back to 1985.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the sci-fi classic stars Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, and Crispin Glover. The film became a massive hit, launching Fox into global stardom and sparking a cultural phenomenon.

Since its release, the Back to the Future franchise has expanded with two sequels, a TV series, theme park ride, comics, video games and even a Broadway musical.

For longtime fans of the film, this 40th anniversary event is a rare opportunity to hear directly from Fox and travel back in time — no DeLorean required.
