19 Random People Who Will Restore Your Faith In Humanity
They were on their way to Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day weekend when they saw a vehicle plunge into a creek.
Five University of Georgia sorority sisters — Molly McCollum, Jane McArdle, Eleanor Cart, Clarke Jones, and Kaitlyn Iannace — immediately pulled over in rural Burke County, Georgia. They called 911 and rushed into the water to help.
Inside the sinking car was Cori Craft and her two young sons. The students managed to pull Craft and her older son to safety, but her 4-year-old was still trapped underwater, buckled in his seat. When they finally freed him, his lips were blue and he wasn’t breathing.
That’s when Clarke Jones, who had CPR training from her time as a lifeguard, sprang into action. She began chest compressions, and after about a minute, the little boy started breathing again. Overcome with emotion, his mother scooped him into her arms as the entire group broke down in tears.
The Burke County Sheriff’s Office later honored the five women and named them honorary deputies.
