FROM A DAMP, SHADOWED BEDROOM TO A £420,000 KEY THAT FINALLY LOCKED PAIN OUT FOREVER — THIS WAS NEVER ABOUT FAME, IT WAS ABOUT SURVIVAL, because long before the jungle crown and the £1.4 million cheers, AngryGinge was a kid counting pennies in a £350-a-month flat with no shower, watching his mum grind through three jobs just to keep the lights on, and now, with his hands still shaking from everything it took to get here, he’s handed her a home worth £420,000 and quietly said what words never could: “You don’t have to struggle ever again.” After already clearing her debts, he didn’t buy headlines or status — he bought safety, peace, and an ending to years that nearly broke them, proving this wasn’t luck or flexing wealth, but grit forged in silence, gratitude soaked in memory, and the kind of love that doesn’t shout, only delivers — a son rewriting his family’s story not with noise, but with one unbreakable act that says: we survived… and this time, we’re staying.

I’m A Celebrity winner AngryGinge has celebrated his extraordinary transformation from bedroom streamer to primetime TV star by purchasing his first home — a £420,000 mock-Tudor newbuild — after earning an astonishing £1.4million before turning 25.

DailyMail.com understands that the content creator and newly crowned reality king, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, secured the three-bedroom property in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester, in June last year — a purchase that symbolises just how far his life has shifted since his early years in modest council housing.

The high-spec home boasts bright open-plan living spaces, two modern bathrooms, expansive front and rear gardens, a hot tub, covered patio, and a sweeping driveway. But despite the sizeable investment, Burtwistle’s finances have only surged further — with £1.2million earned throughout 2025 alone, including £100,000 from his I’m A Celebrity appearance.

From Twitch to television, Burtwistle’s meteoric rise has been fuelled by more than five million followers across social media platforms, making him a highly sought-after face for brands including Puma and JD Sports. His estate agent, Jamie Burke, marked the completion on Instagram, sharing a photo of them shaking hands in the influencer’s gleaming kitchen, writing: “New home day… and a pleasure handing over the keys.”

That moment stands in stark contrast to the life he once knew. The Salford-born star grew up in Eccles alongside his sister Tasha, raised by their single mother Michelle, who juggled multiple low-paid jobs — including working in a school kitchen, cleaning, and care work — earning just £12,500 a year.

In the I’m A Celeb jungle, the 24-year-old opened up about witnessing his mother’s relentless work ethic, telling campmate Alex Scott that she often moved straight from one job to the next without pause. He credited her sacrifices for his determination, saying: “If she can do it, then I can do this in the jungle. That keeps me going.”

Winning the nation’s hearts with his grounded personality, candid storytelling, and humble work ethic, Burtwistle quickly became a household name — even among viewers who had never heard of him before his ITV debut.

But the journey to his success was arduous. Seeking to lift the financial burden on his mother, he left home at 18 to live with his grandmother, eventually renting what he described as a “s***hole” apartment with mouldy walls, no shower, and a broken door — all for £350 a month — while saving for a deposit.

Back then, his followers doubted he lived there at all, joking that the grim décor made it look more like a pub than a home. Yet his persistence ultimately paid off. After nearly quitting Twitch in the early months due to low viewership, he returned following the death of his grandfather from Covid in 2021, streaming full-time for up to ten hours a day.

He transformed a humble £12.44 earnings from his first FIFA livestream into thousands of pounds a month, before branching into YouTube and commercial partnerships. Two years ago, he even repaid all his mother’s debts using prize money from a streamed football event — a gesture that cemented his devotion to the woman who raised him.

That success stands in stark opposition to his turbulent relationship with his father, truck driver Lee Smith — whom he has publicly called a “dead-beat dad” after abandoning the family during his childhood. Burtwistle has spoken about chaotic late-night visits, incidents with police, and court battles over maintenance payments. He has said bluntly that if he saw his father today, he would “walk past him.”

By contrast, he praises his “amazing” mum for giving him guidance and strength, and described his I’m A Celebrity win as a chance to show her how proud he was to be her son.

After earning his title as the first social media star to be crowned King of the Jungle, he fulfilled another dream by taking his mother on a free trip to Australia — a place she had always wanted to visit.

With his new home now secured, and a career that has exploded in value, the once struggling streamer has become one of Britain’s most remarkable new-era success stories — fuelled not only by fortune and fame, but a desire to repay the woman whose sacrifices built the foundation for his achievements.
