Pregnant Woman Left Shocked After Her Sonogram Images Have ‘Uncanny’ Resemblance to Her Dog (Exclusive)
Expectant mom Inês Egner was in for the laugh of a lifetime after a recent sonogram appointment.
The pregnant mom-to-be went viral on TikTok after recounting her recent anatomy scan and sharing one of her sonogram images, which looked eerily like their dog Goulash.
“We were so excited for our anatomy scan…” she wrote over the first slide. “Only to get our photos back and realise [sic]…”
“Our son looks remarkably like our dog 💀,” she added over a split photo of the sonogram image and Goulash.

Now, Egner tells PEOPLE that her first reaction to seeing the “uncanny” similarity was to laugh.
“We went to do the 20-week anatomy sonogram together with my best friend. We were idling in the waiting room for a bit before the doctor called me in and handed me a little folder with all the pictures and the general report of the exam,” says Egner.
“We were skimming through them together, the three of us, as you do, admiring the little hands, the little nose…until we came across that picture and my friend goes, ‘Wait, doesn’t the baby look just like Goulash?’ ” she remembers. “Hard to unsee the uncanny similarity after that.”
“My husband and I instantly started laughing because we could see it too,” continues Egner. “I then sent the photos to my family via text and my father, unprompted, actually said the same thing. He responded to that particular picture and said, ‘The baby looks like Goulash.’ No one can unsee it now!”
Egner adds that she and her husband felt like they had to have a sense of humor about the situation.
“I know you’re meant to say your baby looks beautiful in the sonogram photos, that they look just like their parents and whatnot, but the reality is they are really ugly,” she says. “Alien-esque. Sometimes downright creepy! And in truth, we do like to jokingly refer to the dog as our son, so it was just a fun time overall.”
Their “son” Goulash is going to be 5 in December, and Egner says he’s the best dog she’s ever owned or met.
“I rescued him when he was just 7 months old and we have been inseparable ever since,” she shares. “He loves to cuddle, he’s so gentle, adores everyone, and is never in a bad mood. We have a cat that we brought home a bit over a year ago, and he fell in love with her right away, never even felt jealous.”
“He’s basically a giant baby, if you ask me. I can’t imagine my life without him, and I’m so happy my son will get to have such a doting big brother when he arrives,” adds Egner.

As for whether Goulash knows he’s getting a sibling, Egner tells PEOPLE she’s not sure.
“He’s always lying next to or on me, so I haven’t really noticed him being more clingy than usual,” she says. “He does sniff at the belly sometimes, but I’m not sure that means he understands there’s something going on.”
“What he did notice, however, was a bedroom being all set up! Which I’m convinced he thinks is for him, toys and all.”
