Justin Baldoni is paying tribute to his wife and his mom on Mother’s Day, marking a rare public comment amid his ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively.
“My mom gave us faith. My wife is the definition of it. Our children are growing up in the fortress of that love,” wrote Baldoni, 41, alongside a family photo on Instagram Sunday, May 11. “Happy Mother’s Day to all.”
Baldoni married Emily, an actress, in 2013, and they share two kids, Maiya, 9½, and Maxwell, 7.
When Emily, 40, shared a birthday tribute to Baldoni in January 2025, she wrote on Instagram, “Happy birthday my love. Celebrating the man, husband, and father that you are. I’d choose you again and again.”
At the same time, Baldoni’s mother Sharon supported him in a birthday message on Instagram, writing, “Life has its moments and also its surprises – as you keep your integrity through it all Justice and truth will shine today and into eternity. I love you more than you will ever know! Happy Birthday my beautiful boy! May God continue to bless you in truth.”
In December 2024, Baldoni’s It Ends With Us costar Lively, 37, sued him and others, alleging sexual harassment and retaliation, which he denies. Baldoni then countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and more, claiming extortion and defamation. Lively’s lawyers have called his lawsuit “meritless” and “vengeful.”
On Jan. 17 Baldoni — who has been spending time in Hawaii amid the legal fallout — broke his silence after filing his $400 million countersuit, telling TMZ in a video while passing through an airport that he is “grateful to be with the family, man. We have amazing friends and family. Faith.”
Live’s 50th anniversary special taping in February, the SXSW Film & TV Festival premiere of her latest film Another Simple Favor in March, plus at the TIME100 gala on April 24.
At the TIME100 event, Lively said in a speech, “I have so much to say about the last two years of my life, but tonight is not the forum,” seemingly alluding to the Baldoni legal saga.
Then, when she was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers on May 1 to promote her Simple Favor sequel, Lively at one point acknowledged that she couldn’t speak much about the case but said she has had an “intense year” that has “been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life.”
Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman said in a previous statement that they “will continue to hold Ms. Lively accountable for her actions of pure malice, which include falsely accusing my clients of harassment and retaliation. Her fantastical claims will be swiftly debunked as discovery moves forward, easily disproved with actual, evidentiary proof.”
Lively’s attorney Mike Gottlieb confirmed to PEOPLE that the actress will take the stand to testify in the trial, which is currently scheduled for March 2026.
“We think there have been a lot of distractions put up to deflect attention from the retaliation campaign that was launched against her,” Gottlieb claimed. “And we expect and hope that in discovery we’ll have an opportunity to really focus on what we believe to be the core part of the case, which is that this retaliation campaign was launched against Ms. Lively for her having raised concerns about sexual harassment.”
Amber Heard has more to celebrate this Mother’s Day, now that she’s officially a mom of three.
“Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget. This year, I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years,” Heard, 39, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, May 11. “Today, I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang.”
She added, “My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full.”
News broke in December 2024 that the actress was expecting again. She previously welcomed daughter Oonagh Paige via surrogate in 2021.
“When I had my first baby girl, Oonagh, four years ago, my world changed forever. I thought I couldn’t possibly burst with more joy,” Heard reflected on Sunday. “Well, now I am bursting times three!!! Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms, despite my own fertility challenges, has been the most humbling experience of my life. I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully.”
Heard closed out her Instagram note with a message to other mothers.
“To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you,” she gushed.
Heard previously revealed that welcoming Oonagh, now 4, was “the beginning of the rest of my life.”
“Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms,” she wrote via Instagram in July 2021. “I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way. I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib.”
At the time, Heard stressed that she wanted to keep her family life out of the public eye despite her career as an actress.
“A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this,” she added at the time. “My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She’s the beginning of the rest of my life.”
Heard has since moved her brood to Spain, according to People.
